Farm Animal Adoption ProcessThe first step in adopting a farm animal is to fill out an adoption application. You can email the Farm Manager, with your name and address to have one mailed to you or download a copy using the links at the bottom of this article. Please indicate what type of animal you are interested in adopting. Once the application is received and reviewed, we will try to find an animal that matches or comes close to what you are looking for. If we do not have a match, the application is placed in a file for a least a year.
Once a match is found, you will be contacted and informed about the animal. An appointment will be set up for you to come out and visit, work, groom, pet, etc. with the animal. If you are located too far away to come in for an appointment, different options can be discussed with the Farm Manager. A home visit is the last step for the adoption process. It is a quick check of the property where the animal will be kept to ensure that it is appropriate. Again if out of the area, a home visit can be conducted by an area Humane Society organization or SPCA. Those arrangements will be made by the Farm Manager with those organizations. As long as the animal is appropriate for your situation and the home visit checks out, the adoption is approved. With the adoption from our facility, there is an adoption contract that must be signed before the animal leaves. The contract states that you will provide food, water, shelter, and kind treatment of the animal. You will have the animal vaccinated and examined by a veterinarian yearly. You will not allow the animal to be used for any experimentation or vivisection. All males will be neutered before leaving the property. For females that cannot be spayed, the contract states that they WILL NOT be used for breeding. You will not sell or abandon the animal, if there are any problems we ask that they get returned to Lollypop Farm. And you will not allow the animals to get loose and create a public nuisance. This contract is VERY important to our adoption process and it is important that it is followed. Any deviation in the contract and the animals can be seized. If interested in adoption, the best thing to do is contact the Farm Manager (585-223-1330 ext. 266) with any questions or click here to download the adoption application.
