Special Adoption Programs

The special adoption programs at Lollypop Farm help us place even more pets into loving, responsible homes by making adoption fees more accessible and providing help in finding just the right pet.

featured felines

Cats make great pets, and Lollypop Farm has dozens of wonderful cats waiting for a loving home like yours!

Each Monday through Friday, Lollypop Farm offers special discounted adoption fees for selected cats. The donation for adopting one of these "Featured Felines" is just $35 per cat—a savings of at least $45! You will receive the regular items included with every adoption. Come visit us in person to find out which cats qualify for the special. The cat condos are usually marked with a sign that says "Special Pricing $35," and specifies which cats qualify.

Seniors-for-Seniors Adoption Program

senior for seniors program

Research shows that having a pet in the home has many positive health and emotional benefits, and adopting an older pet saves the life of a homeless shelter animal.

The Seniors-for-Seniors Adoption Program at Lollypop Farm eliminates adoption fees for seniors adopting older pets. Adoption fees are waived for senior citizens sixty (60) years and older who are adopting qualified pets that are six (6) years and older. This includes everything that normally comes with an adoption: spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, flea treatment, 30 gift of pet health insurance, free exam with a veterinarian and and ID tag.

Senior citizens adopting dogs and cats between the ages of one and six receive a discount of $50.

For more information, speak with an Adoption Counselor when visiting the shelter.

Pets for Patriots

Lollypop Farm is a proud partner in the Pets for Patriots Program. This program is available to veterans, wounded warriors, and service members of all armed forces. To join, and individual must apply through Pets for Patriots at www.petsforpatriots.org or 1-877-473-8223. Once an individual is approved, they receive a membership ID and may adopt a qualifying animal at Lollypop Farm for half the cost of the adoption fee. Benefits of membership also include 10% off pet care costs at participating providers, and reduced costs for pet food and supplies.

A qualifying animal must meet ONE of the following 3 criteria:

  • An adult dog or cat, two years of age or older
  • Large dogs, 40 pounds or more
  • Special-needs dog or cat, which may be disabled or otherwise limited in its physical abilities to injury, birth defect, prior abuse or neglect.

Barn Cat Program

Some cats admitted to Lollypop Farm may not be feral but may exhibit behaviors that would not make them a candidate for a home environment. These cats may be considered for our Barn Cat Program. This is a mutual companionship program where an individual with a barn can provide a loving home to a cat and fulfill all the responsibilities of a pet owner, while receiving the benefit of an animal to monitor the rodent population often found in barns.

If you are interested in adopting a cat for your barn, please download the Barn Cat Home Request Form and contact Amanda Smith-Hatch at (585) 223-1330, x104. The adoption fee for these cats is $25.

Meet Your Match® Feline-ality™ Adoption Program

Lollypop Farm is pleased to offer the Meet Your Match® Feline-ality™ Adoption Program, a program of the ASPCA®. This research-based program was created by Emily Weiss, Ph.D., in conjunction with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®).

The Meet Your Match® Adoption Program is comprised of two parts:

  1. The first part, the cat assessment, helps us determine the individual needs of each cat. We test each cat aged nine months or older to help us determine the general feline-ality including friendliness, playfulness, reception to petting and holding, valiance and independence. Each cat is then categorized into a personality color according to their scores. These categories are color-coded green, orange and purple.

  2. The second part is an Adopter Survey which helps us determine your color and we can begin to match an animal's behaviors to your expectations, experience, lifestyle, and home environment. You'll receive a color-coded Guest Pass to help guide you to an animal that may best meet your expectations and lifestyle. For example, if your pass is orange, look for an animal with an orange kennel card (but you aren't tied to that color if you see another cat that pulls at your heart strings!).
At Lollypop Farm, cats aged nine months and older are included in the Feline-ality program. Whether you are looking for an adult cat or a kitten, the Adopter Survey will help you understand the kind of cat that fits best in your home!
