DESCRIPTION:Shelter Helpers is a fun in-person program specially designed for students looking for opportunities to help their community. Perfect for young animal lovers (8-16 years old) Shelter Helpers will explore different ways that youth can help homeless pets. \nParticipants may create a variety of enrichment toys\, devise adoption promotion materials\, and participate in keeping the shelter grounds tidy – not to mention get some hands-on animal socialization time! \n*Program hours are eligible to be signed off as service hours \nQualifications:\n-8-16 years old\n-Participants must arrive on time and stay for the entire session.\n-Show respect to all animals (including humans too!) \nDetails:\n-Morning sessions (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) are reserved for participants ages 8-11 years old\n-Afternoon sessions (1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.) are reserved for participants ages 12-16 years old)\n-5-10 students will be in attendance at each session.\n-Registration is required.\n-Guardians can drop off and pick up program participants at the Training and Education Center entrance.\n-Participants must wear clothes that can get messy and closed-toe shoes with rubber soles.

SUMMARY:Reptile and Amphibian Study Merit Badge Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Scouts will learn the characteristics and habitat types of 10 reptiles and amphibians. Scouts will learn the roles of reptiles and amphibians in their ecosystems and the differences between major groups of reptiles and amphibians. Scouts can identify different species of reptiles and amphibians and discuss them within a group. Scouts will be awarded the reptile and amphibian study merit badge after presenting evidence that they have completed ONE of the following: maintain a reptile or amphibian for one month OR study a reptile or amphibian weekly for a period of 3 months.
