Are you on the market for a new pal? There are so many wonderful horses waiting for homes at Lollypop Farm! A number them are not rideable, but they still have so much potential. When you bring home a pasture pal, you are giving companionship to your resident horses and giving a home to a horse in need.

Murphy’s Happy Tail

Murphy went home with a Lollypop Farm volunteer!

Murphy, a 20-year-old Paint Grade gelding, came to Lollypop Farm when his owner could no longer afford to care for him. This sweet fellow got along well with other horses at the shelter and demonstrated very good ground manners when handled by our equine team. After waiting quite some time to find his perfect pasture, Murphy finally went home during the Pasture Pal adoption special in May of 2019!

He was adopted by Kathy V., an equine volunteer here at Lollypop Farm. She had fallen in love with Murphy when she first started volunteering, and was never interested in adopting a horse for riding. In early May, Kathy made it official! She adopted Murphy, and he now lives on her parent’s farm, just 5 miles from where Kathy lives, so that she can be around to care for him all the time. Murphy is loving his new home – especially his companions, two mini donkeys!

Roxie’s Unique Ancestry

Some pasture pals are horses that were once ridden, but for health related reasons, are no longer rideable. Roxie is one such case! Originally a race horse, Roxie saw several different temporary homes before finding her way to Lollypop Farm last year. She is a 23-year-old registered bay Thoroughbred Mare with a sweet personality and nice ground manners. Upon her arrival, the equine team at Lollypop Farm decided to do a little research into Roxie’s past, and found a very interesting and famous ancestry! Roxie’s great-great grandsire was the well-known horse War Admiral, and her great-great-great grandsire was the equally famous Man O’ War! Whatever her background, Roxie is a gentle, beautiful horse who is looking for a happy home. Learn more about adopting Roxie here.

Bringing home your own pasture pal

Through the end of May, pasture pals at Lollypop Farm are available for the discounted adoption fee of just $225! While this is an exciting opportunity to give a home to a horse in need, all year round we have pasture pals available for adoption who can bring comfort and companionship to your horses at home, still available for reasonable adoption fees.

Interested in adopting a pasture pal? Visit the Farm Yard, call us at 585-223-1330 x269, or email equine@lollypop.org to learn more about any of our available horses!
