HUMANE EDUCATION VOLUNTEERS

Humane Education programs at Lollypop Farm aim to reach and educate children in our community. Our dedicated volunteers are at the forefront of teaching students, shaping attitudes, and forming the differences makers of tomorrow.
Lollypop Farm is a popular and fun place to be on the weekend! We host people of all ages in a variety of engaging education programs including: Shelter Helpers, Scout Workshops, Petacular Parties for birthday celebrations! Humane Education Volunteers will work closely with our Humane Educators to offer high-quality programming to children and adults.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Over the age of 18
- Must be passionate about Lollypop Farm and helping the pets in our community
- Comfortable speaking and engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Able to follow and implement program curriculum
- Must complete the education volunteer orientation and training
- Must have reliable transportation to and from Lollypop Farm
- Able to show compassion and maintain composure when faced with difficult situations and/or personalities
Activities & Responsibilities:
- Assist Humane Education Staff in the preparation implementation of high quality programing
- Greet program participants upon arrival to Lollypop Farm
- Host guests for a scheduled education program
- Collaborate with Lollypop Farm Education Staff to provide specific educational program curriculum
- Help staff ensure that guests are safely participating in the program
- Occasionally volunteers might be asked to accept donations and and program payments
- Assist Humane Education Staff in the post-program breakdown and cleaning
Essential Functions:
- Follow all program policies and procedures
- Act as an ambassador for Lollypop Farm
- Inform and engage with community members about Lollypop Farm programs and services
- Recruit community members to support Lollypop Farm efforts in our community
- Communicate with Humane Education Manager & Staff Team
- Provide feedback and questions from the community to the Humane Education Manager
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is frequently required to: hear, stand, walk, sit, see, and speak.
Time commitment:
Must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 volunteer shifts per month.

Shift #2 | 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. | 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. |

Humane Education Volunteer Opportunities
Focus of the job:
Lollypop Farm is the place to be on the weekend! We run “Petacular Parties” for Birthdays, Girl Scout Workshops, and Behind the Scenes Tours every Saturday and Sunday! Humane Education Volunteers will work closely with our Education Assistant to offer high-quality programming to children and adults.
Activities & Responsibilities:
- Host Humane Education programs
- Communicate with Humane Education Manager & Education Assistant
- Verify payment for program
- Prep for programs (stuff party bags, light cleaning)
Requirements:
Customer service skills, interest in working with children and adults

Volunteers are invited to work one or two shifts.

Tour Guide Volunteers provide “behind-the-scenes” tours children and adults. Guides will take the group into areas that are closed to the public (like the Clinic and the Behavior and Training center) and will share information about Lollypop Farm and its history. All tours are pre-scheduled by:
- Group Size: 6 to 25 people (including adults)
- Minimum age: 6 years old
Activities & Responsibilities:
- Lead guests on a guided tour of the campus.
- Communicate with Humane Education Manager & Assistant
- Verify payment for program
- Follow all tour guide policies

- Schedule based on when tours are scheduled
- -OR- scheduled shifts for regularly offered “drop-in tours”

Animal Tales Story Time is a free drop-in story time on Friday mornings at 11:30 am. As a Story Time Volunteer you will engage young children in the joy of animals through animal themed storybooks.
Activities & Responsibilities:
- Preview books selected for story time
- Setup floor pillows for story time
- Reads to children for 15 – 30 minutes
- Provide an animal interaction with Therapy Guinea Pigs or a pre-selected shelter animal
- Communicate with Humane Education Manager & Assistant
