LOLLYPOP FARM RECEIVES GRANT THROUGH PETS FOR THE ELDERLY TO SUPPORT FREE ADOPTIONS TO PEOPLE 60 AND OLDER BETWEEN MAY 11-24

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – Beginning Monday, May 11 and continuing through Sunday, May 24, Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, will offer free adoptions to anyone aged 60 and over thanks to grant funding provided by Pets for the Elderly, which has generously supported the organization’s Senior for Seniors program for nearly 25 years.

During the promotion, adoption fees will be waived for all available dogs and cats aged seven months and older for adopters 60 and over. Additionally, Lollypop Farm is offering free adoptions for small mammals, reptiles, and birds, for adopters 60 and over. Kittens and puppies under seven months of age, along with farm animals, are not included.

Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday, however, appointments are required on Saturdays and Sundays. Following any dog adoption, Lollypop Farm provides 30 days of free behavioral support through its partnership with Petcademy. This innovative service connects adopters with qualified trainers via text or email who can provide critical support, answer important questions, and help in creating a positive environment for your new family member.

“We’re always finding creative ways to foster meaningful connections between the Greater Rochester region and the deserving animals who rely on us for a second chance,” said Alice Calabrese, President and CEO of Lollypop Farm. “Every adoption is more than just finding a loving home. It’s creating a connection that enriches lives and strengthens our entire community. Through our Seniors for Seniors program, we’re proud to remove barriers and create more opportunities for these meaningful, life-enriching bonds to take hold. We’re grateful to Pets for the Elderly for its continued support of our Seniors for Seniors program.”

Upon arrival at Lollypop Farm, each pet is carefully evaluated by staff at the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic. Dogs and cats are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped to ensure they are adoption ready. Throughout the promotion, adoption staff will be available to assist prospective adopters, provide guidance, facilitate meet-and-greet opportunities, and to answer any questions.

For those unable to make a long-term commitment like adoption, Lollypop Farm also offers a comprehensive foster program. This initiative allows community members to temporarily provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals in need. All necessary supplies, medical care, and support are provided by Lollypop Farm. If you’re interested in becoming a temporary foster care provider, complete the registration form.

About Pets for the Elderly
The Pets for the Elderly Foundation (PFE) is a 501 (c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide companionship to senior individuals through pet ownership, while saving the lives of companion animals in shelters; animals which might otherwise be destroyed due to lack of appropriate homes, and space limitations. The program began in 1992 with two shelters near Cleveland, Ohio. Since then, PFE has seen great success and has grown to a nationwide program. PFE branched out nationally in 2002 and has successfully placed over 121,000 companion animals with senior adopters.
