National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Lollypop Farm To Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in The Greater Rochester Area

Fairport, N.Y. (May 10, 2022) – Lollypop Farm announced a $15,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love to support adoption programs for homeless and abused pets in the greater Rochester area.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Lollypop Farm is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessary euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

“We are grateful to Petco Love for this grant and for the opportunity to be their partner in bettering the lives of homeless and neglected animals. This funding provides more second chances and brighter futures for so many pets who have nowhere else to go,” says Alice Calabrese, President and CEO of Lollypop Farm.

Lollypop Farm has achieved and maintained a 93% save rate in recent years. A high-standard among animal welfare organizations, this measure is an indication of the work being done to help more pets with behavior and medical challenges. This grant will go towards helping the organization continue to overcome these kinds of challenges to help even more homeless and abused pets in our community. Pets like Trever, a small, mixed-breed dog had kennel and stranger reactivity. Trever stayed with Lollypop Farm for a few extra months to work with the behavior team to learn confidence and trust before he was adopted into a loving home. Over 4,000 animals were adopted from Lollypop Farm in 2021, including small animals, cats and dogs, equine, and farm animals.

Lollypop Farm provides second chances for dogs, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles, farm animals, and equine. To learn more about Lollypop Farm adoptions, visit www.lollypop.org. To learn more about Petco Love, visit www.petcolove.org.
