Adopt From Foster FAQs

What does it mean when a pet has the "Adopt From Foster" banner on their profile?

It means that the pet is lucky enough to spend their time in a foster home until they find a family to call their very own! They can be adopted right from their foster home versus having to be here at the shelter.

Where is this pet actually located?

They are in a loving foster home! All pets who have the "Adopt From Foster" banner will need an appointment in order to meet them. Sometimes, pets are met right in their foster home and other times, they are brought back to the shelter for a meet and greet - each situation may be a little different, but you and that pet's point person will work out those details!

How do I meet them/what is the adoption process?

The first step is to fill out the form that will pop up once you click the "Ask About Meeting Me button". From there, one of our staff members will reach out to you with more information about the pet and how to meet them.

Are you interested in helping a pet stay out of the shelter while they wait for an adopter?

We love to hear that! Become a foster volunteer at lollypop.org/foster. You will receive emails letting you know who is eligible for our "Adopt From Foster" program!

Maggie has quickly become famous around here for her love of walks and time spent OUT of her kennel. Maggie is confused and sad to be in an unfamiliar place, as she was once a beloved member of a family. Our dog walkers and animal care staff members quickly noticed that she loves the outdoors, and time spent with people, and we are trying to give her as much of that as possible. She can be a bit timid at first, but is truly as sweet as they come, she just needs a little time to get her bearings. Change can be hard on dogs, and sweet "MagPie" is no exception. Maggie has a positive history of living with dogs in a previous home, but we'd like for her to meet any resident dog that you may have here at the shelter, to be sure that everyone gets along well! Maggie also lived with small children in a previous home, and was reported to have done well with them. This orange gal is eager to join your family! She recently joined a foster home while she waits for her next adventure. If you're interested in meeting with her, please email her friend Nicole at nratliff@lollypop.org, or give us a ring at (585) 223-1330 x262.
