Adopt From Foster FAQs

What does it mean when a pet has the "Adopt From Foster" banner on their profile?

It means that the pet is lucky enough to spend their time in a foster home until they find a family to call their very own! They can be adopted right from their foster home versus having to be here at the shelter.

Where is this pet actually located?

They are in a loving foster home! All pets who have the "Adopt From Foster" banner will need an appointment in order to meet them. Sometimes, pets are met right in their foster home and other times, they are brought back to the shelter for a meet and greet - each situation may be a little different, but you and that pet's point person will work out those details!

How do I meet them/what is the adoption process?

The first step is to fill out the form that will pop up once you click the "Ask About Meeting Me button". From there, one of our staff members will reach out to you with more information about the pet and how to meet them.

Are you interested in helping a pet stay out of the shelter while they wait for an adopter?

We love to hear that! Become a foster volunteer at lollypop.org/foster. You will receive emails letting you know who is eligible for our "Adopt From Foster" program!

Meet Woulda, Coulda, and Shoulda! These three little kids were rescued from the cold winter by a kind person and brought here to Lollypop Farm. After surviving on their own for so long, they are still working on getting used to people and all of the crazy gadgets people have in their homes! Right now, all three of them are chilling in a foster home and warming up on their own time. They all have little quirks, and the longer they adjust, the more their personalities are blossoming! Woulda is the most playful of the group. He still isn’t a fan of touch, or even of people looking at him, unless there is a wand toy or some yummy food involved. He and Coulda spend most of their time playing and cuddling together. Coulda, the only lady of the group, is the most well-rounded. She’ll approach, sniff your finger, and sometimes give you little headbutts or even flop onto the floor and show her big kitten belly! She is the most ready-for-anything kitten of the three, but she’s still learning how to be brave, just like her brothers. Shoulda is the biggest boy, and the snuggliest bug! He spends most of his time hiding and watching from a safe space (at the moment, he has decided that is underneath my cabinet, despite numerous other hiding spaces,) but if you offer him some pets he’s going to start leaning in, purring, and sticking out his little tongue. These kitties need another cat in the home to flourish. Their big foster brother, my resident cat, has been instrumental in getting them to come out. If they see, or even hear him, all three come out, play, roll around, and are so much less fearful. They need another cat to bond to that can help them learn that humans are really their friends. Gentle voices, gentle hands, yummy treats, toys, and patience are the other ways to get these kiddos to warm up. Just go slow and you’ll end up with a loving companion. If you are interested in meeting the little friends, please message me (their foster mom,) at arichardson@lollypop.org! We can talk all about their little quirks and discuss whether one (or multiple!) would be a good fit for your family.
