Adopt From Foster FAQs
What does it mean when a pet has the "Adopt From Foster" banner on their profile?
It means that the pet is lucky enough to spend their time in a foster home until they find a family to call their very own! They can be adopted right from their foster home versus having to be here at the shelter.
Where is this pet actually located?
They are in a loving foster home! All pets who have the "Adopt From Foster" banner will need an appointment in order to meet them. Sometimes, pets are met right in their foster home and other times, they are brought back to the shelter for a meet and greet - each situation may be a little different, but you and that pet's point person will work out those details!
How do I meet them/what is the adoption process?
The first step is to fill out the form that will pop up once you click the "Ask About Meeting Me button". From there, one of our staff members will reach out to you with more information about the pet and how to meet them.
Are you interested in helping a pet stay out of the shelter while they wait for an adopter?
We love to hear that! Become a foster volunteer at lollypop.org/foster. You will receive emails letting you know who is eligible for our "Adopt From Foster" program!
Max
Lollypop Farm
Max is a vibrant, inquisitive 36lb Sheltie/Pomeranian/American Eskimo mix with a resilient spirit. Rescued in April 2024 from a high-profile hoarding case involving 120+ dogs in Rochester, NY, Max has spent the past few months of freedom learning that the world is a much bigger and kinder place than he once knew. Max's Personality • Affectionate & Loyal: Once he drops his shields and you are in his circle of trust, Max shows you that he is super affectionate, goofy, loving, and loyal. • Playful: He loves to be near his friends (both humans and other dogs he knows) and shows a playful, lighthearted side once he feels safe. • Sweet Nature: Despite his history of limited human socialization, he is a sweet, good boy learning that some people are worth trusting. Ideal Home Environment Max is looking for a patient, experienced advocate who understands his unique background. • Secure Physical Fence: Max is not yet comfortable with collars or leashes. His ideal home has a fear-free, physical fence (no invisible or geofencing setups) with direct access from the house to maintain and continue his progress. • Quiet & Patient: He needs a human who will allow him to move at his own pace as he builds confidence and learns to navigate new environments. • Consistent Routine: Max is fully potty trained and thrives on a predictable routine with a reliable outdoor schedule and/or doggy door. His Journey So Far Max was born into a situation with little to no human contact, spending his early life primarily with many other dogs in the same confined space. Since July, he has been thriving in a Lollypop Farm volunteer foster home, where he has made incredible strides in learning what safety feels like. Are you ready to be the advocate Max needs? If you have a secure yard and a heart full of love and patience, please contact Lollypop Farm to learn more about Max's adoption process.
