Pico’s story of hope shows that no matter the age, no matter the veterinary needs, and no matter their past, all animals deserve a second chance. A second chance that Lollypop Farm is willing to provide.
Pico is a 26-year-old miniature horse who once knew what it felt like to be cared for. But over time, life took a difficult turn. When our Humane Law Enforcement officers responded to a cruelty complaint in December 2025, Pico’s severely overgrown hooves made it clear he was in pain.

When the officers arrived that winter day, they discovered that Pico and the other animals on the property had no access to water. The animals’ owner had fled the state following a domestic incident. Pico was then surrendered to our Humane Law Enforcement team and brought to Lollypop Farm to receive the care he desperately needed.
He was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease, a chronic condition that will require ongoing veterinary management for this older equine. Pico now has a dedicated care plan to manage his Cushing’s disease and address his poor hoof quality, the result of years without proper trimming. He requires specialized farrier work and continued veterinary monitoring to stay comfortable.

His story reflects something truly special about Lollypop Farm. Not every shelter can step in for farm animals and horses, but because of supporters like you, Lollypop Farm can help creatures both big and small.
Today, Pico’s journey has come full circle. He was adopted by the equine veterinarian, Dr. Sarah Pell, who has been helping care for him. Pico will be able to spend his golden years filled with comfort, dignity, and expert care.
Your generosity makes stories like Pico’s possible. You ensure that when animals are in need, Lollypop Farm is ready with open doors, skilled hands, and hearts full of hope.
