Tiny Vet Clinic

(PreK – Grade 3) Step into the shoes—and lab coats—of a real shelter veterinarian! Tiny Vet Clinic is an immersive, hands-on workshop designed to spark big imaginations. Through guided dramatic play, kids get to run their very own miniature veterinary clinic. Using real-life medical tools—like stethoscopes, bandages, bandages, and reflex hammers—participants will examine, diagnose, and treat plush “patients.” Guided by our Humane Education team, young vets will learn how real shelter animals are cared for, practice gentle handling techniques, and discover the empathy and observation skills needed to keep pets healthy and happy.

All About Lollypop Farm

(Grade 2 -Adult) Take a deep dive into the rich history and life-saving work of the Humane Society of Greater Rochester with All About Lollypop Farm! This engaging program traces our journey from our founding days to our modern role as the region’s leader in animal welfare. Participants will learn about the wide variety of programs and services Lollypop Farm offers to support pets and people—including shelter adoptions, community veterinary care, humane law enforcement, equine and farm care, and humane education.

Paws & Read

(PreK – Grade 3) Spark a love for learning through the power of the human-animal bond with Lollypop Farm’s Paws & Read. Led by experienced Humane Educators and aligned with New York State Learning Standards, this interactive program promotes literacy, empathy, and emotional growth by tapping into children’s natural connection with animals. Paws & Read offers a supportive, non-judgmental space where young learners can build confidence and compassion together.

Dog Behavior 101

(Grade 2 – Adult) This introductory course focuses on dog body language using the TEMP acronym (Tails, Ears/Eyes, Mouth, and Posture). Most of us know that when a dog wags their tail, it means they’re happy! But did you know a dog’s tail wag can also be used to communicate insecurity or nervousness? And what about other behaviors like lip licking or avoiding eye contact? Whether you’re looking to adopt a dog for the first time or you live with dogs already, Dogs 101 will help you to better understand the numerous and complex ways our canine friends communicate their wants, needs, and emotions.

Potbelly Pigs 101

(Grade 6 – Adult) Want to learn more about potbelly pigs? We will address common myths and misconceptions about these intelligent, charismatic animals, and cover everything you need to know to decide if a potbelly pig is the right companion for you.

Backyard Chickens 101

(Grade 6 – Adult) In this workshop designed for prospective flock owners, learn essential chicken care skills, including legality, coop sizing and maintenance, supplies, chicken health checks, and more!

Backyard Chickens 202

(Grade 6 – Adult) Ready to go beyond the basics of backyard chicken keeping? This workshop is designed for experienced chicken keepers who want to deepen their knowledge and troubleshoot common issues, such as medical needs, chicken behavior, and flock dynamics. Whether you’re looking to improve your flock’s well-being or are ready to take your chicken-keeping skills to the next level, this workshop is the perfect next step.

Pocket Pet Prep

(Grade 6 – Adult) Are you thinking about bringing home a small animal? Our “Pocket Pet Prep” program is the perfect place to start! This course is designed for anyone interested in learning more about the unique behaviors, needs, and communication styles of small animals, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and others.

So, you want a pet?

(Grade 2 – Grade 6) Through engaging activities and interactive discussions, kids will learn what animals need to stay happy, healthy, and safe—from nutritious food and cozy habitats to exercise, veterinary checkups, and plenty of love. We’ll also break down the real-world costs of pet ownership in a kid-friendly way, exploring how expenses like toys, food, and vet visits add up.

Career Exploration

(Grade 2 – Transitioning Aged Adult) Discover where your passion for animals can take you in this interactive workshop at Lollypop Farm! Participants will explore the diverse careers that keep an animal welfare organization running—from veterinary medicine and animal behavior to humane law enforcement, farm care, and shelter operations. You’ll hear directly from Lollypop Farm staff across multiple departments, learn about the skills and education needed for various roles, and get an inside look at how our teams work together to help animals in the Rochester area.

Logistics:

  • At least 2 weeks notice
    • Career Exploration requires 4 weeks’ notice
  • Each program is 45-60 minutes
  • $100 flat fee
    • Career Exploration is $150 due to the high volume of staff members required
    • $80 for Title 1 schools
      • Career Exploration is $120
  • FREE for RCSD schools able to book the entire 6 program series
