Lollypop Farm and Alley Cat Allies Partner to Save the Life of Emporio the Cat

Fairport, N.Y. (August 4th, 2023) – Alley Cat Allies provides funding for the lifesaving surgery and medical care of a Lollypop Farm kitten named Emporio.

Emporio was brought to Lollypop Farm as a kitten, with his seven siblings. His siblings quickly got adopted, but Emporio stayed at Lollypop Farm after he started to have neurologic symptoms like wobbling, lethargy, and seizures. The veterinarians at the Klingenstein Veterinary Clinic at Lollypop Farm were worried that Emporio had a liver shunt, a condition that causes an abnormal flow of blood that bypasses the liver, often caused by a congenital defect.

Specialists were concerned about Emporio’s chances of surviving such extensive surgery, so he was initially managed with strict medications, diet, and monitoring in a loving foster home. Emporio’s condition became tough to manage, and it was decided that the risky surgery would be the best option for him.

Alley Cat Allies funded the critical and lifesaving medical care and surgery for Emporio. His surgery was performed by a specialist at the Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York. Shortly after, Emporio went back to his foster family to wean off medications and monitor him to ensure the surgery was successful. Slowly, Emporio has improved, all thanks to the support from Alley Cat Allies.
