Lollypop Farm Pilots New Pet Sleepover Program

Short-term sleepovers will provide second chances for pets for adoption during the holiday season

Fairport, NY, November 26, 2019 – Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, is piloting new short-term sleepovers to help pets waiting for adoption. The program will allow members of the public to take select pets home for up to 14 days to get to know them in a home environment.

“This program is being tested as a way to help reduce stress for the pets in our care, while giving them extra enrichment and increased visibility in the community,” says Caitlin Daly, Vice-President & COO at Lollypop Farm. “And adopters will be able to consider whether a pet is a good fit for their home before making a lifelong commitment to that pet. It’s a win-win!”

Those interested in short-term sleepovers with a pet will go through a similar counseling experience as Lollypop Farm provides adopters, helping to ensure a happy experience for everyone involved. They will then be provided everything they need for the pet in their care such as food and any supplies that will make the experience as seamless as possible for the pet and family.

“We’re excited to pilot this program in our community,” adds Daly. “It is our hope that this program will lead to long-term successful adoptions.” Those interested in participating in the pilot program can visit Lollypop Farm’s main campus in Fairport and speak to an adoptions counselor for more information.
