Rochester Woman Facing Charges of Animal Abuse

Fairport, N.Y. – Humane Law Enforcement Investigators at Lollypop Farm charged Dinisha Chapple (Rochester, NY, 26) with failure to provide sustenance after her dog Izzy was discovered badly matted causing a deep wound and infection.

Izzy, an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, was discovered by a contract electrician on February 11th. He informed the building manager that the small dog was locked in the basement and appeared to be suffering from injuries. The building manager took the dog to Animal Junction Veterinary Clinic where she received treatment.
“The veterinarian who treated Izzy said she was in such bad condition, the matted fur had cut a 1-inch gash into her leg,” says Reno Di Domenico, Vice President for Humane Law Enforcement at Lollypop Farm. “The injury was left untreated, which led to infection and hindered Izzy’s ability to walk.”

Chapple has been ordered to appear in Rochester City Court to face charges of failure to provide sustenance on March 26th at 9:30 a.m. The misdemeanor offense could lead to up to a $1,000 fine and/or up to one year in prison.
