The Grey Muzzle Organization Awards $7,500 to Lollypop Farm

Grant will help homeless senior pets get a second chance

Fairport, N.Y. – Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has received a grant totaling $7,500 from The Grey Muzzle Organization. Funds from The Grey Muzzle Organization will be used to help provide care, veterinary services, and second chances for senior dogs who face challenges when searching for new homes.

Stigmas surrounding adoption of senior pets often mean a longer stay during their time at the shelter. Many times adopters are apprehensive about adopting a senior because they believe that all senior pets have serious medical issues, must be at the shelter due to behavior issues, or are afraid of saying goodbye shortly after adopting. Support from organizations like Grey Muzzle allows Lollypop Farm to help pets overcome these challenges through programs like Senior-for-Senior adoptions, that allows adopters ages 60 and older to adopt a senior shelter pet for free.

“We are thankful for this grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization giving us the ability to continue this program,” says Alice Calabrese, President and CEO at Lollypop Farm. “Senior dogs have a lot of love to give their families, and we’re happy to be able to give them the second chance they deserve.”
