During Thanksgiving week, the SPCA Serving Erie County responded to a large-scale animal welfare case on a farm in Brant, N.Y., taking in more than 200 animals. Cats, dogs, and farm animals were discovered living in unsanitary conditions, and many required immediate veterinary care and intervention.
Recognizing the scope of the situation and the urgent needs of the animals involved, staff at the SPCA Serving Erie County reached out to community partners for support. Lollypop Farm was proud to assist by welcoming 20 goats from the case into our care.

“A large intake like this demands extensive planning and preparation. We’ve been relocating our animals to ensure a comfortable, quiet space for the goats to recover,” stated Mary Miller, Farm Manager at Lollypop Farm. “We are assessing their needs in collaboration with our farm animal veterinarian.”
This effort reflects the importance of collaboration within the animal welfare community. Large intakes can place significant strain on any organization, especially when animals require specialized care, housing, and medical attention.
“We’re always happy to support our community partners,” Mary shared. “It’s a wonderful reminder that we’re all helping animals in need, side by side. We know that receiving a large number of animals at once can put significant pressure on any organization, and we’re grateful we could lend a hand and help lighten the load. Working together truly makes a difference — for the animals and for all of us.”
