When Rufus first arrived at Lollypop Farm, he was tired, sore, and clearly had been on his own for some time. Found wandering near Pittsford-Victor Road in the town of Pittsford, Rufus had painful sores on his feet, likely from traveling in search of his family or a safe place to rest. He was also missing patches of fur and was slightly underweight.

Every year, hundreds of stray pets arrive at Lollypop Farm hoping for a second chance. In 2025 alone, 311 stray pets were brought through our doors. Some are reunited with their families, while others, like Rufus, wait patiently.

After completing his stray-hold period without being reclaimed, Rufus officially began his journey toward a new future. Despite whatever hardships he faced before arriving at Lollypop Farm, Rufus hasn’t lost his loving spirit. Staff quickly discovered what a special dog he is — gentle and affectionate. He walks well on a leash, enjoys every opportunity for snuggles, and happily hands out kisses to anyone willing to accept them.

Now healthy, safe, and full of hope, Rufus is ready to find a home where he can finally settle in and be loved the way every pet deserves.

Because of your support, homeless pets like Rufus receive compassionate care, nutritious meals, and veterinary treatment when they need it the most. Because of you, they get to find their new homes.
