Have you ever wondered what you can do to help outdoor cats in your community? You can keep community cats in your neighborhood (whether they are feral cats or your neighbor’s outdoor cat who doesn’t want to come inside just yet), warm and safe from the elements by building this simple DIY cat shelter.

Spaying or neutering your cat will ensure that they have a happier, healthier, longer life. It will also reduce the likelihood of problematic behaviors and will help prevent unplanned litters.

Watch this video to learn how to make your own community cat shelter, and meet our cat quality control assistant, Rosa!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Plastic tote box
  • Styrofoam cooler
  • Straw, hay, or shredded paper (you can also use blankets or towels)
  • Box cutter
  • Duct tape
